[align=center]FAITH AND THE PILLARS OF ISLAM

[align=center]Imam Ali narrates that the prophet, peace be upon you him, once said :

God has ordained the faith as purity from plurality of gods, prayer as safeguard against conceit, Zakat as a means of spreading wealth, fasting as a test for devotion, pilgrimage as demonstration of sincerity in religion, and jihad as defence for Islam.
He has also ordained promotion of good deeds in the interest of the whole, and prevention of evil in order to deter the irresponsible. He has prescribe tightening ties with kin to strengthen the community, punishment of trespassers to avoid bloodshed and to respect the rights of others, abstention from drinking in order not to lose one's consciousness.
He has prohibited theft to secure the integrity of the whole, fornication to remove doubt about blood relationship, and homosexuality to protect the health and maintain continuity of the community. He has ordered giving witness to ensure justice, and abstention form lying to propagate truth. He has also required that security be maintained so that fear may be eliminated. He promotes honesty to be the system of the nation and obedience to be a sign of respect for the Imam.
