The speech of the leader Al-Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr on 17/5/2024
I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed devil
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful
I extend my thanks, love and Admiration to everyone who participated and attended the Friday prayer to support the holiday of Al-Ghadeer Day, thank you then I say
We have lived with Al-Sunna (our brothers Al-Sunna), we mixed with them and re,.sisted the occu,.pier with them even in Al-Anbar province beside to other provinces; we prayed behind them in spite of the fewness of their prayers behind us, we dismissed those who assaulted them at the beginning of Am,.erican occu,.pation during the fabricated se,.ctarian incitement and we didn’t care; even we were accused with different accusations here and there; they tried to get us out from religion and doctrine therefore no one can deny that I rejected the se,.ctarianism whereas all people exploited this matter for their personal interests. We demanded to make a holiday in Al-Ghadeer Day to prevent se,.ctarianism and activate the peaceful coexistence, some people demand to make another occasion a holiday and there is a big difference between the two holidays; the messenger (Muhammad) has appointed prince of believers Ali Bin Abi Talib as his caliph in Al-Ghadeer Day, it was said that Al-Ghadeer Day is a declaration of the messenger’s love to Ali Bin Abi Talib!! Therefore, why the messenger didn’t declare his love to other people?! If we said, neither this matter nor another one, so what is Al-Ghadeer Day? When month of Ramadan is completed and the fasting is completed then Eid Al-Fitr comes after it, the Eid comes after the worship of fasting and completing it; and Eid Al-Adha comes after completing the rites of Hajj; so what is Al-Ghadeer Day? Al-Ghadeer Day is perfecting of the religion and completing of the favor, (this day I have perfected your religion for you, and completed My favor upon you and I have chosen Islam as your religion). Therefore when we demand to make a holiday in Al-Ghadeer Day, it is a holiday for perfecting of the religion and completing of the favor which the messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him and upon his family) declared in his life. Hence, the eighteenth of Thi Al-Hujja should be an official holiday to all Muslims and peaceful people. If the Iraqi parliament voted to make this popular demand as a holiday with thanks then it is good matter but if the parliament refused then let they faced Muhammad and Ali as opponents (Sunna and Shia).
